VCDM 475-555 Weekly Production Report #5

This week was the fifth week of my VCDM 475 course that will ultimately guide me in making my Senior Thesis to showcase next semester.   This week we didn't really discuss much relating to the senior thesis since most of our time was spent discussing the Prince George's Film Festival. I actually had the opportunity to volunteer for it yesterday and I plan to actually attend one of the days of the festival tomorrow.  In the meantime I've been working on my character analysis for "Guy Vs. Grades" to try and breakdown who my characters are in the film. I'm also trying to find more inspirations from movies and shows I adore that I can ass influences on the blog.

Senior Thesis Inspiration: For Whom The Booth Tolls

One of the core inspirations for my Senior Thesis is a Mickey Mouse short by the name of "For Whom The Booth Tolls". The short is one of many created to make a take on Mickey that goes back to his more mischievous and fun roots.  Directed by Alonso Ramirez Ramos, the short follows Mickey and Minnie on a trip to a peaceful garden resort. Things start out fine until Mickey realizes he doesn't have a quarter to pay the toll booth and soon has the guilt of not paying hung over his head. Things only get worse when the toll booth may or may not have have an affect on Mickey's reality:  While I can't go AS far visually as this short does because I am working within the medium of live action, I would like to be able to capture a similair unmistakably comedic yet still suspenseful tone as well as coming up with fun ways to portray the anxiety of my main character's dilemma visually like how it is done here. It's very brilliant stuff.

VCDM 475-555 Weekly Production Report #4

This week was the fourth week of my VCDM 475 course that will ultimately guide me in making my Senior Thesis to showcase next semester.   This week we discussed the basics of what goes into making the script for our senior thesis films while currently  writing for them as well. I had already turned in my treatment for "Guy Vs. Grade" and touched it up, right now I'm currently writing the first draft of the script with plans to turn it in on Monday.  I feel like since I was so in-depth with how I wrote my treatment that writing the script has been a bit easier for me.

VCDM 475-555 Weekly Production Report #3

This week was the third week of my VCDM 475 course that will ultimately guide me in making my Senior Thesis to showcase next semester.   This week we further discussed what goes into the treatment of our senior thesis films will be as well as beginning the start of writing our script for our films. I turned in my treatment for "Guy Vs. Grade" but plan on redoing it to make some quick corrections since there was an expansion on the time to turn it in.  I have some things I can do to make it a bit better before I head into the scripting phase. Really looking forward to getting into the scripting phase of my film.

VCDM 475-555 Weekly Production Report #2

This week was the second week my VCDM 475 course that will ultimately guide me in making my Senior Thesis to showcase next semester.  This week we discussed what the title of our senior thesis films will be as well as beginning the start of writing our treatment for our films before we get to the script. We also discussed what makes a good pitch line for a film.  The title of my film will be "Guy Vs. Grades" and the basic pitch for it is that it will resolve around an anxious  college student coming home from his last day of his college semester. He does everything in his power to avoid checking his grades online, which becomes harder as his anxieties begin to manifest themselves into reality as he tries to relax.   I already have a basic idea of where I want the story to go so hopefully coming up with a treatment for it won't be AS difficult. It's a very simple story as a whole. I look forward to getting  started  on it.

VCDM 475-555 Weekly Production Report #1

This week began the start of my VCDM 475 course that will ultimately guide me in making my Senior Thesis to showcase next semester.  While I don't have anything to really show for in terms of my Senior Thesis Film at this moment, I took the time to revise my pitch for the thesis yesterday. Originally I had turned in my pitch for a previous course and upon re-reading it I decided to make things more clearer in terms of what I am trying to achieve with my film.  After doing some revising I turned in what will be the final pitch for my film. I look forward to getting into the development of it soon.
